The Rye Field Created at the Future Site of Donghwa Garden Forms a Spectacular Sight
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that a 100,000㎡ rye field has been created on the planned site of the Seomjingang Donghwa Garden, forming a wave of green.
Before the full-scale construction of Seomjingang Donghwa Garden, Gokseong-gun has been utilizing a flower garden filled with various colors and fragrances in the Chungui Park area as a local tourism content.
Every year, a flower garden is created on the idle land within Donghwa Garden, receiving great responses from residents and visitors.
Gokseong is characterized by many high mountains and deep valleys, but Donghwa Garden consists of rare low hills, creating a beautiful landscape.
Walking along the trail to Donghwa Garden, you can see the rye field, which has grown well after enduring the cold winter, filled with deep green waves, and get a panoramic view of Gokseong-eup town.
Also, the circular trail in Donghwa Garden is well established, and walking along the path, you will be captivated by the quiet and peaceful charm unique to Donghwa Garden.
Looking down from Donghwa Garden, the neatly maintained embankment of Gokseongcheon hosts the Ttukbang Market every weekend.
On both banks of Gokseongcheon where the Ttukbang Market is held, red buckwheat is sown, and around the time of the Gokseong World Rose Festival, you can see a red flower field harmonizing with Gokseongcheon.
Currently, the Life Sculpture Exhibition in collaboration with Crown Haitai is being held along Gokseongcheon until June 9. Large sculptures by famous sculptors active in creative activities both domestically and internationally are exhibited along the riverside, providing another attraction.
A county official said, “The Gokseong World Rose Festival will be held for 10 days from May 20 to 29 at the Seomjingang Train Village. We hope visitors will visit Donghwa Garden and Gokseongcheon along with the festival to receive healing for the mind and the beautiful gifts of nature.”
