Suncheon-gun, Jeonbuk, is launching the "Part-time Job Project for Career-interrupted Women" this year to support the economic independence and employment of unemployed women.
According to the county on the 27th, the Career-interrupted Women Job Support Project provides 50% of the labor costs to local companies that employ unemployed female workers, easing the management burden of participating companies and promoting a culture of work-family balance for career-interrupted women.
After enacting the support ordinance last year and completing consultations on the establishment of the social security system with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the county has swiftly established an implementation plan and is recruiting companies to participate in the project until the 19th of next month.
Eligible participating companies are those located in the county with three or more regular employees, and that newly employ career-interrupted women whose stipulated weekly working hours on the labor contract are between 15 and 35 hours.
Once the selection of participating companies is completed, the county plans to recruit participating workers and support 50% of labor costs and the four major insurance premiums (employer's contribution) starting from June.
County Governor Choi Young-il said, "Many capable women experience career interruptions due to marriage, childbirth, and childcare," adding, "Through the part-time job project, we will expand opportunities for career-interrupted women to engage in economic activities and social participation, and ease the management burden on companies by supporting labor costs, striving to make Suncheon a happy place for all residents."
Businesses wishing to participate in the project can visit or email the Resident Welfare Division at the county office.
