Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam held the '4th Namhae-gun Age-Friendly City Monitoring Group Appointment Ceremony'.
The 'Age-Friendly City' prioritizes the core value of 'active aging and growing old in a beloved place,' aiming primarily to improve the quality of life for elderly residents within the city. To this end, it emphasizes the importance of collecting opinions through a bottom-up participation process involving the elderly themselves and local residents. Namhae-gun has been operating a monitoring group of 20 members annually for the past three years, with more than 50% of the members being seniors aged 65 or older.
In 2023, the group plans to actively participate in monitoring 61 tasks across eight major areas related to the creation of an age-friendly city and in proposing policies for the elderly.
Additionally, Namhae-gun will continuously share policy ideas using various online and offline platforms and will review and discuss monitoring contents through regular meetings.
On this day, Namhae-gun Governor Jang Chung-nam extended congratulations to the outstanding 3rd monitoring group members who received awards and to the newly appointed 4th monitoring group members.
Governor Jang said, “While the administration plays a role in promoting the age-friendly city project, the role of the monitoring group is especially important. If the monitoring members convey what they see, hear, and feel around them to the administration and work together to seek alternatives, I expect the reputation of Namhae-gun as an age-friendly city will be further enhanced.”
