'Suzume-ui Mundansok' Surpasses 30 Million Globally, Earns 225.8 Billion Won

The Japanese animated film "Suzume no Tojimari" is generating substantial revenue worldwide.


According to the Japanese distributor Toho on the 26th, "Suzume no Tojimari" (directed by Makoto Shinkai) has surpassed 30 million cumulative viewers in 42 countries overseas. As of the 20th, the global box office revenue reached 22.54 billion yen (approximately 225.88 billion KRW).


"Suzume no Tojimari" was released in Japan on November 11 last year and surpassed 10 million viewers. In China, it recorded cumulative revenue of 14.68 billion yen (approximately 147.13 billion KRW), surpassing the revenue in Japan. It was released domestically on the 8th of last month, attracting the largest audience among theatrical releases and setting a new record as the highest-grossing Japanese film ever released in the country.


Since its release on the 13th, in Western regions such as Europe and the United States, it earned 1.05 billion yen (approximately 10.52 billion KRW) within two days, and in Thailand, it earned 22.28 million yen (approximately 223 million KRW) within three days of release.
