Over 1,500 Athletes and Officials from 22 Cities and Counties in Jeonnam Visit
The Jeollanam-do Women and Senior Badminton Tournament was successfully held in Hampyeong.
According to the county on the 25th, the Jeollanam-do Women and Senior Badminton Tournament took place successfully over two days, on the 22nd and 23rd, at the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center and five other locations.
This tournament was hosted and organized by the Jeollanam-do Badminton Association and the Hampyeong County Badminton Association, with support from Jeonnam Province and Hampyeong County.
The competition was divided into women's doubles, mixed doubles, and senior doubles, with about 1,500 players and officials from 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam participating.
In the women's doubles category, the rankings were as follows: ▲ 30s C class Boseong-Yeonggwang (Kang Eun-sook, Kim Yoo-jin) ▲ 40s B class Muan (Park Mi-sook, Choi Eun-seok) ▲ 50s B class Suncheon-Yeosu (Kang Da-sook, Moon Ah-hyun).
In mixed doubles, the winners were ▲ 40s C class Mokpo-Yeongam (Kwon Dong-jin, Cheon Seong-hee) ▲ B class Gangjin (Kim Won-gi, Lee Mi-jin) ▲ 50s A class Mokpo (Lee Sun-hee, Park Dong-jun). In senior doubles, the champions were ▲ 60s A class Damyang (Kim Nam-jung, Kim Young-jung) ▲ 70s A class Goheung (Choi Sun-ho, Lee Dong-soon).
County Governor Sang-ik Lee said, “I think it is very meaningful that a badminton tournament that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy was held in Hampyeong,” adding, “We will continue to strive to expand the base of community sports.”
Meanwhile, about 1,500 badminton enthusiasts visited Hampyeong, using restaurants and lodging facilities, which revitalized the local economy that had been stagnant due to COVID-19.
