Creating Donations Through Employee Salary Deduction System
Daesang announced on the 21st that it donated 20.2 million KRW raised from the Salary Rounding-Up Fund last year to the Korean Red Cross to support the forest ecological restoration project in the wildfire-affected area of Uljin, Gyeongbuk.
Since 2006, Daesang has been operating the 'Salary Rounding-Up System,' where employees voluntarily donate amounts less than 1,000 KRW or 10,000 KRW from their salaries. Each employee can directly choose their preferred donation field among children and youth, environment, rare and incurable diseases, and others. Last year, the funds raised in the environmental sector were allocated to the wildfire-affected area in Uljin.
The donation was prepared by combining 10.1 million KRW collected by employees and an additional 10.1 million KRW provided by the company as a matching grant. This money will be used for the Korean Red Cross's 'Donor's Forest' project, which involves planting trees over 70 hectares?equivalent to 100 soccer fields?in the wildfire-affected area of Uljin.
Kim Kyung-sook, Head of Daesang's ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Management Office, said, "We are pleased that the funds raised through the heartfelt contributions of Daesang employees can help restore the forest ecology in Uljin. We will continue our efforts to find places in society that need help and convey our support."
