Pretending to Be a Baby's Mom, Disguising a Cat as a Baby
A drug courier in Russia was caught by the police after disguising a cat as a baby to pose as a mother with an infant.
On the 20th (local time), the British daily The Telegraph and others reported that a Russian woman was caught after failing to smuggle drugs and was found to have disguised a cat as a baby.
In a video released by the Russian police, when officers unzip a pink winter baby swaddle, instead of a baby, a gray cat is revealed. The cat was dressed in at least three layers of baby clothes, along with a baby wool hat, shoes, and a diaper.
Before taking out the cat, the police found a yellow film-wrapped package in the hood part of the swaddle. After fully removing the cat, they found more blue-wrapped packages in the foot part of the swaddle. The packages contained drugs that the woman, a member of a drug organization, was secretly transporting.
Irina Volk, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, said, "The arrested woman tried to appear like a mother going out with her baby to avoid suspicion from others." It is reported that the woman is currently suspected of transporting drugs from Krasnoyarsk in Siberia to Ural Nizhny Tagil.
The Nizhny Tagil police also found 12 drug packages weighing 170g that the woman and the cat had transported throughout the village.
The police stated that the drug was powdered methylephedrine. This substance is used in cough and cold medicine but can stimulate the nervous system and is also used as a raw material for stimulants.
