Namhae-gun and Yeosu-si Women's Association Council

Hold Agreement Ceremony and Workshop to Join Hands for Exchange

The Women's Association Council of Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam, and the Women's Association Council of Yeosu-si, Jeonnam, held a signing ceremony and workshop on the 21st at the Namhae-gun Lifelong Learning Center Multipurpose Hall to promote friendly cooperation through mutual exchange and to seek ways to develop women's policies.


Namhae-gun and Yeosu-si established a sister city relationship on November 29 of last year, and the Women's Association Councils, which play a pivotal role in each region, also held this signing ceremony and workshop to contribute to the mutual development of the two cities/counties and to promote women's welfare.


The signing ceremony was attended by Jang Chung-nam, Mayor of Namhae-gun; Im Tae-sik, Chairman of the Namhae-gun Council; Ryu Kyung-wan, Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly member; Kim Bong-hee, President of the Namhae-gun Women's Association Council; Kwon Young-nam, President of the Yeosu-si Women's Association Council; Yeosu-si officials; and about 60 others.

Following the sister city signing ceremony, a donation ceremony was held to mutually contribute 1 million won from the Hometown Love Donation Fund, symbolizing hope for mutual prosperity and development of the two regions.


President Kim said, "Through continuous mutual exchange visits, let us share excellent activities of women's organizations and become ambassadors promoting local tourist attractions, cooperating to become a foundation for the development of our communities."


President Kwon said, "Namhae and Yeosu have been close neighbors sharing history and lifestyles, and with the advent of the undersea tunnel era, we will become one family opening the Namhaean era together. Let us take this agreement as an opportunity to jointly promote tourism revitalization."


Mayor Jang said, "I believe this is a more meaningful and special occasion as the Women's Association Councils leading Namhae-gun and Yeosu-si have announced the beginning of practical mutual development between the two cities/counties. I expect the meticulous care and warm interest of the Women's Association Council members to accelerate the joint prosperity of both cities/counties."


After the signing ceremony, the attendees moved to the Namhae-Yeosu undersea tunnel site to share the current status of the tunnel and took time to explore local attractions in Namhae, such as Darangi Village.
