On the morning of the 21st, the firefighting response level 1 at the fire site of Korea Carbon's second factory in Miryang, Gyeongnam, was lifted at 12:04 PM.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire that broke out around 4:57 AM completely engulfed one factory building measuring 4,229㎡ and spread to a nearby hill, but thanks to the initial response, it did not spread into a forest fire and no casualties occurred.

At around 5:13 AM, the firefighting response was raised from level 1 to level 2 at 6:16 AM, but was lowered back to level 1 at 9:42 AM.

Firefighting efforts, which began following a report from a factory official, involved firefighters from Miryang as well as Changwon, Haman, Uiryeong, Changnyeong, Gimhae East and West, Busan, Ulsan, and Cheongdo fire stations, along with the Central Special Rescue Headquarters and Special Response Unit.

A total of 324 personnel were deployed, including 180 firefighters, 20 volunteer firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and Korea Electric Power Corporation employees. Firefighting equipment included 7 firefighting helicopters, 8 pump trucks, and 10 water tanks, totaling 41 pieces of equipment.

The fire authorities succeeded in initial suppression at around 11:08 AM, but anticipated that it would take some time until the fire was completely extinguished.
