The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is set to actively promote the ‘Vocational High School Global Field Training’ project to expand overseas employment opportunities for vocational high school students.
First launched in 2010, this project aims to strengthen the global vocational capabilities of vocational high school students and cultivate professional talents with international competitiveness.
This year, 70 vocational high school students will be selected, with 40 dispatched to Australia and 30 to Singapore starting from September.
Before the full-scale implementation of the project, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a briefing session for teachers in charge from 34 vocational high schools at the seminar room of Busan Electronics Technical High School at 3 p.m. on the 24th.
At the briefing, Kim Seung-wook and Seo Min-jae, education officers from the Digital Future Education Division of the city education office, will provide guidance on the detailed implementation plan for the global field training, the step-by-step student selection methods, and overall project operation.
After the briefing, the Busan Office of Education plans to finalize the selection of target students through a screening process including document review in May, native speaker interviews, aptitude tests, in-depth interviews, and group activity evaluations in June.
Selected students will complete an intensive 4-week English course and safety training in Korea. Then, they will undergo 12 weeks of field training abroad, including 4 weeks of language training, 5 weeks of major-related training, and 3 weeks of on-site practice in Australia and Singapore.
Han Jong-hwan, head of the Digital Future Education Division at the city education office, said, “Our education office is striving to provide excellent employment opportunities for vocational high school students,” adding, “We will continue to spare no support to expand employment opportunities for vocational high school students both domestically and internationally.”
