Andong-si Public Officials and Labor Union Together
Raise Donation Fund for Wildfire Damage Support
Andong City in Gyeongbuk Province plans to donate 8.79 million won to the Disaster Relief Association to aid recovery from the Gangneung wildfire that occurred on the 11th. The recovery fund was raised voluntarily by Andong city officials and the public servants' union with heartfelt concern.
This is not the first time Andong City has supported disaster relief efforts. In 2014, during the heavy snowfall in Gangneung, Andong provided three 15-ton snow removal vehicles, and in 2019, it donated 7.25 million won following the Gangneung wildfire.
In response, when a wildfire broke out in Andong City in 2020, Gangneung sent consolation goods such as coffee and bread, specialties of Gangneung, to the hardworking Andong city officials involved in firefighting efforts.
Since the sister city agreement was established in 2009, Andong has participated in direct sales of agricultural and marine products and joined Gangneung’s EGO emotional experience education programs.
Recently, the mayors of Andong and Gangneung have continued mutual exchanges between the sister cities by donating hometown love funds to each other’s cities.
Andong City plans to further strengthen cultural and artistic exchanges between the two cities by inviting the Gangneung Gwanno Mask Dance to the 50th Chajeonjanggun Noguk Princess Festival in May.
