LG Uplus announced that it will open an English version of its foreign language website on the 20th, allowing foreign customers to easily handle telecommunications service tasks such as bill payment and temporary suspension cancellation without going through the customer center.
According to immigration statistics from the Ministry of Justice, the number of long-term foreign residents entering Korea last year was approximately 810,000, an increase of about 122% compared to 360,000 in 2021. To serve the rapidly increasing number of long-term foreign customers in Korea, LG Uplus has launched a mobile-based foreign language website providing related information in English and will gradually apply it to its customer center app, ‘Your U+’.
Before creating this foreign language website, LG Uplus collected and analyzed feedback from foreign customers received via phone and chat, confirming that nearly 70% of the requests were for basic telecommunications service tasks such as immediate bill payment, checking and blocking/unblocking small payments. Accordingly, LG Uplus explained that the foreign language website was created to enable foreign customers to conveniently handle most of these tasks.
The newly opened foreign language website features the ability to handle basic telecommunications service tasks such as checking subscription information, real-time usage inquiry, immediate bill payment, data transfer, blocking and unblocking small payments, and temporary suspension and cancellation of SIM cards. If customers encounter difficulties or have questions during task processing, they can also receive assistance through the foreign language chat consultation service.
In addition to telecommunications service tasks, the foreign language website allows customers to easily check benefits they can receive, such as membership discounts, bundled product discounts, and events. In particular, for memberships, customers can use the issued barcode directly without going through the Korean version ‘U+ Members’ app to receive discount benefits at partner stores such as GS25 convenience stores, Tous Les Jours, and Paris Baguette.
Furthermore, to prepare for cases requiring face-to-face tasks such as document submission, a location service based on ‘Google Maps’ has been added to inform customers of the nearest store from their location. A new ‘talk+’ tab, a community feature where customers can share telecommunications service usage experiences and information necessary for staying in Korea, has also been established.
Additionally, to enhance customer convenience, LG Uplus has enabled easy login not only through existing website accounts but also via Toss, KakaoTalk, Naver, and Apple accounts, with Google account integration planned to be added soon.
LG Uplus plans to launch various foreign language versions of the website, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian, within the first half of the year.
Kim Yujin, Head of Global Telecommunications Business at LG Uplus, said, “We have prepared a foreign language website to reduce inconveniences for foreign customers using telecommunications services and to innovate their usage experience. Beyond handling telecommunications service tasks, we will strive to provide various benefits needed by foreign residents in Korea so that the foreign language website can evolve into a lifestyle convenience platform.”
