Korea GM announced on the 20th that the first model of the premium pickup and sport utility vehicle (SUV) brand GMC, the full-size pickup truck Sierra, has successfully entered the domestic niche market.
The Sierra, the first GMC model launched in Korea, sold out its initial shipment of 100 units within two days of release. Subsequently, through rapid supply acquisition, 126 units were sold by March. Confirming continuous demand for the Sierra Denali model within the niche market, GMC plans to proactively secure inventory to ensure quick delivery to contracted customers.
Analysis of customers who purchased the GMC Sierra showed that 37% were in their 40s. In particular, corporate customers running personal businesses made up the majority. By region, purchase proportions were 41% in the metropolitan area, 11% in Gyeongsangnam-do, and 5% each in Chungcheongbuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do. The gender ratio of buyers was overwhelmingly male at 83.5%. It was found that male entrepreneurs in their 40s purchased the Sierra the most.
The appeal of the GMC Sierra that satisfied male entrepreneurs in their 40s lies in the overwhelming size of the American full-size pickup truck and its luxurious premium quality. The Sierra features bold design along with powerful performance true to an authentic American pickup truck.
Jung Jeong-yoon, Chief Marketing Officer of Korea GM, said, "The GMC Sierra focuses on innovation and customer satisfaction to offer a wide range of choices to domestic customers," adding, "It is an authentic American premium pickup truck introduced targeting customers who seek their own identity and a distinctive premium lifestyle."
Meanwhile, Sierra customers can receive express services through the GMC Premium Care service, which allows regular vehicle inspections and simple consumable services within the warranty period (3 years or 60,000 km) without prior reservation. Additionally, the 'Pickup & Delivery Service,' which picks up and repairs the vehicle at the customer's desired location, can be used unlimitedly within the warranty period.
GMC provides a ‘Consumable Replacement Package Service’ that offers free replacement of five consumables, including engine oil (5 times) and air conditioner filters (3 times). Furthermore, the brand operates a dedicated call center and runs 52 GMC service centers nationwide, with plans to expand to 84 locations nationwide by the first half of 2023.
