Yeongdeungpo-gu Resolves Public Transportation Blind Spots with New Airport Bus Route
New Airport Bus Route 6008 Passing Through 14 Stops from Haegun Hotel to Mullae Station and Dangsan Station
First Operation from 4:30 AM on May 1... 3,000 KRW Fare Discount Coupons Available Until August
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that starting May 1, it will operate a new airport bus route 6008 connecting Mullae-dong, Shingil New Town, and Incheon Airport. This will make it more convenient for residents in Mullae-dong and Shingil New Town to access Incheon Airport.
Shingil New Town and Mullae-dong, mini new town-scale residential complexes, each house about 10,000 households, but there was no bus service to Incheon Airport, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
The district office has made great efforts to resolve residents' inconvenience by holding several working-level meetings and transportation company consultations since early this year and proposing the new route to Seoul City.
As a result, in April, the district received approval from Seoul City for the airport bus route adjustment and established the new airport bus 6008 passing through Mullae-dong and Shingil New Town.
The newly established airport bus 6008 will start its first trip at 4:30 AM on May 1, running through ▲Haegun Hotel ▲Sinpung Station ▲Dorim Intersection ▲Mullae Station ▲Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station ▲Dangsan Station ▲Seonyudo Station before heading to Incheon Airport.
It will operate 15 times a day with intervals of about one hour. Additionally, the transportation company plans to provide 3,000 KRW discount coupons valid until August to promote airport bus usage.
Alongside this, the district established city bus 6713 in Shingil New Town, a public transportation desert, in October last year to improve residents' access and convenience. Furthermore, the district is leading the expansion of the metropolitan transportation network, with plans to open airport bus 6007 connecting Yeongdeungpo Station, Yeouido, and Incheon Airport in May.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We hope the new airport bus route will greatly improve transportation convenience for residents of Mullae-dong and Shingil-dong. We will continue to play a leading role not only in enhancing public transportation convenience but also in solving residents' daily inconveniences.”

‘Exciting Safe Gwangjin’ is a program where residents can learn about the functions and roles of Gwangjin-gu’s CCTV Integrated Control Center, a key infrastructure for public safety, and how to respond to emergencies using CCTV.
Specifically, participants can learn about ▲CCTV operation status ▲checking CCTV locations using the Gwangjin Integrated Map Service ▲experiencing the CCTV emergency bell and Ansim-i app ▲and CCTV usage cases.
The education sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 AM from May to October at the 3rd-floor experience hall of the Gwangjin-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center.
A model of an actual operating CCTV is installed, and participants can experience vivid demonstrations through a six-split large screen showing CCTV operation, control center response screens, alarm maps of reporting locations, and incident handling screens.
Any Gwangjin resident interested in CCTV can participate. Groups of 5 to 20 people can submit an application to the Smart Control Team of the Smart Information Office at Gwangjin-gu Office. Applications can be submitted via official documents, email, or fax, and further details can be obtained by phone.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Through this education, we hope many residents will learn CCTV locations and how to use emergency bells to respond effectively in emergencies, helping prevent crimes. We will strengthen the emergency response capabilities of the CCTV Integrated Control Center and do our best to create a safe Gwangjin through continuous CCTV expansion.”
Currently, Gwangjin-gu operates 3,480 CCTV cameras at 1,078 locations 24/7 throughout the year. Among them, 927 crime prevention CCTVs are equipped with emergency bells. When the bell is pressed, a control center operator responds and the police are dispatched to the scene.
Gangdong-gu Promotes ‘School Zone 532’ Project... Speed Limit Reduced to 20 km/h
Strengthening Speed Regulations in Protection Zones (30→20 km/h) to Enhance Pedestrian Safety
Improving Traffic Facilities and Pedestrian-Friendly Pavement to Create Comfortable and Safe School Routes
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced it will promote the ‘School Zone 532’ project to ensure safe commuting routes for children.
The ‘School Zone 532 Project’ is part of the district’s ‘2023 Project for Creating Walkable and Safe Pedestrian Environments for Vulnerable Traffic Participants.’ It lowers the speed limit on side roads within school zones from 30 km/h to 20 km/h, strengthening speed restrictions.
Along with lowering speed limits, the project includes maintenance of traffic safety facilities such as road markings, safety signs, speed bumps, and repairing deteriorated pavement. Some sections will be paved similarly to sidewalks to create pedestrian-friendly spaces, promoting safety and comfortable school routes.
Previously, the district implemented the ‘School Zone 532 Project’ at one location (Yesul Kindergarten) in 2021 and two locations (Gildong Elementary School, Cheondong Elementary School) in 2022. This year, the project will expand to four locations (Daemyeong Elementary School, Sangil Elementary School, Osong Kindergarten, Pureunsup Daycare Center).
Additionally, the district plans to improve school routes by expanding protection zones, conducting children’s traffic safety guidance projects, installing speed enforcement cameras, smart crosswalks, LED signs in school zones, yellow carpet installations, and children’s pedestrian safety campaigns, focusing on creating a pedestrian-first environment.
Yoon Hee-eun, Director of the Traffic Administration Division, said, “The district will continue to carefully monitor and manage school zones and commuting routes, creating pedestrian spaces and expanding smart crosswalk installations to establish a safe walking environment for residents. We also ask residents to comply with laws and drive safely by slowing down and refraining from parking in school zones to prevent tragic accidents.”

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) removed two street vendors with revoked road occupancy permits in the Yakryeongsi-ro and Hongneung-ro areas on the 19th.
The district conducted a street vendor status survey in December last year to accurately identify the current situation and began full-scale cleanup activities based on the results.
The targets of this cleanup were two street vendors whose road occupancy permits were revoked due to long-term non-operation.
Including this cleanup, the district plans to remove a total of 40 locations this year: 31 illegal street vendors and 9 street vendors with revoked road occupancy permits. Continuous cleanup will also be conducted for newly occurring or operator-changed street vendors.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Through continuous cleanup of illegal street vendors that infringe on pedestrian rights and spoil the cityscape, we will keep our promise to residents to make the Cheongnyangni area a pleasant place to walk.”
