The government has selected 54 OTT (Over-The-Top) and broadcasting content titles to support their overseas expansion.
On the 19th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it, along with the Korea Communications Agency and the Korea Radio Promotion Association, has selected the 2023 OTT and broadcasting content production support projects.
The selected works include a total of 54 titles: 14 for overseas expansion, 30 for public interest, and 10 for new technology convergence.
The overseas expansion category is divided into OTT-specialized and general types. The OTT-specialized type supports content production to strengthen the global competitiveness of domestic OTT platforms. A total of 10 titles were selected, including KBS's "Bingha" and EBS's "Don-ui Eolgul" (The Face of Money). The completed content will later be streamed through domestic OTT platforms.
The general type supports securing private investment and global expansion, with a total of 4 titles selected.
The public interest category includes a total of 30 titles, such as public interest content and Korean dubbing content. The new technology convergence category is divided into content production support for broadcasting and OTT content and demonstration projects for improving production environments.
In the content category, a total of 7 titles were selected, including virtual performances linked online and offline, and metaverse content production utilizing CJ ENM's offline convention "KCON" integrated with metaverse technology.
