Four Projects: Eco-friendly, Generation Convergence, Senior Job Creation, and Awareness Improvement

On the 17th at 3 PM, Busan City will sign a business agreement with the Korea Housing Finance Corporation at the International Protocol Room on the 7th floor of City Hall to create an age-friendly happy city that resonates across generations.

Joining Forces for a "Generationally Empathetic, Age-Friendly City Busan" ... Busan City and Korea Housing Finance Corporation Sign Business Agreement Busan City Hall.

At the signing ceremony, Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon and CEO Choi Jun-woo of the Korea Housing Finance Corporation will attend and pledge to cooperate in expanding social contribution activities and job opportunities utilizing the experience of senior citizens.

Prior to the business agreement, a donation ceremony will also be held. Since relocating its headquarters to Busan in 2014, the Korea Housing Finance Corporation has continuously shown interest and support for improving welfare for local seniors, and this year, following last year, it will donate 400 million KRW to practically support the outcomes of the agreement.

Through this agreement, four projects will be promoted: ▲Carbon-neutral social value management (ESG) field education project ▲Generation connection upcycling project ▲Senior perception improvement and generation integration project ▲Support project for low-income and grandparent-headed families. These projects aim to create a total of 323 jobs, including senior employment.

First, seniors will be trained as specialized instructors for carbon-neutral education and dispatched as environmental expert instructors to local daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools to conduct environmental education as part of the social value management (ESG) field education project.

Additionally, the second branch of the generation fusion eco-friendly education center, ‘Generation Connection ESG Center,’ will open in Dong-gu, where upcycled products (such as lamps and safety bars) made from separated plastic waste will be produced and later used to improve the living environments of vulnerable groups.

A project to positively improve perceptions of seniors and foster empathy between generations will also be conducted. Senior baristas will operate a barista experience class called ‘Back in My Day’ to activate intergenerational exchange, and during the Busan Silver Film Festival, a university student supporter group will accompany and cover seniors’ video production sites to enhance mutual understanding through the ‘BSIF Youth Work Diary’ project.

Finally, at the Senior Citizens Day event on October 2, 10 million KRW in living support funds will be provided to low-income and grandparent-headed families caring for children under 18 years old. The support funds are expected to be used for living and education expenses, alleviating the burden of support on low-income seniors.

The city anticipates that this agreement project will not only create senior jobs but also expand social contribution activities for seniors, improving negative perceptions of the elderly and contributing to the creation of a happy local community where all generations empathize with each other.

Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon stated, “Through this agreement, seniors contributing to society as senior citizens will have a valuable opportunity to contribute to social value realization, improving perceptions of the elderly and achieving harmony between generations,” adding, “We will strive further to create a sustainable age-friendly city where seniors, youth, and children coexist and prosper together.”
