Expanding Cost-Effective PB Lineup Including Frozen Products
CU announced on the 17th that it will launch 'Pizza Deuktem,' the 22nd product in its own brand (PB) Deuktem series, maximizing cost-effectiveness as a special price item this month.
The Pizza Deuktem offered by CU is a 7-inch pizza designed for easy preparation and can be enjoyed for 2,900 won. This is about one-tenth the cost of ordering pizza delivery. Compared to other frozen pizza products sold at CU, this product is up to 40% cheaper based on the same weight (145g).

CU is launching the special price Pizza Deuktem to reduce customers' food expenses amid rapidly rising delivery food prices due to inflation. Pizza Deuktem is the first frozen product in the Deuktem series. CU stated, "In the ongoing inflation situation, customer demand for frozen products that can be stored and eaten later has increased, so we specially planned this product."
Last year, CU's frozen pizza sales increased by 22.5% compared to the previous year. This year, sales growth rates were also high with double digits: 26.5% in January, 19.4% in February, and 25.3% in March. In this month (April 1?13), sales rose by 60.5% compared to the same period last year, maintaining strong demand.
The Pizza Deuktem launched by CU this time is a quattro cheese pizza using four types of cheese: Emmental, Mozzarella, Gouda, and Cheddar, allowing customers to enjoy a rich, savory, and slightly salty taste. The pizza dough is made as thin as possible to enhance crispiness, and toppings are generously added to upgrade the flavor level. It boasts a cheese content approximately 20 percentage points higher than other pizza products.
CU said, "The reason we were able to launch a high-quality product at a reasonable price is that we signed contracts with a single partner throughout the entire process, from raw material import to product manufacturing and logistics, significantly reducing intermediate distribution costs." CU has been continuously trading finished products such as ready-to-cook frozen pizzas with a trusted partner for nine years and collaborated on producing cost-effective products, leading to the planning of this product.
Meanwhile, CU launched the Deuktem series in 2021 with the industry's lowest price concept, offering various products with high customer demand such as kimchi, ramen, eggs, and tissues at about half the price of National Brand (NB) products. The series surpassed 10 million cumulative sales earlier this year.
