Doctor who harassed nurse for years with "Let's go to the motel"... University hospital suspends for 1 month

A university hospital in Jeonbuk issued a one-month suspension to doctor A in December last year. A had been calling nurse B, who worked in the same operating room, after work while intoxicated for years.

A made non-work-related calls to B for about 30 minutes four times a month. Unable to endure the distress, B began recording calls with A starting in April 2021.

On August 12, 2021, around 8 p.m., A called B and said, "Let's drink together. Since the restaurant is crowded, let's go to a quiet motel to drink," and "Don't tell your boyfriend or people around you when you come out to drink," continuing the call for 20 minutes.

Eventually, feeling sexually humiliated, B reported this to the hospital. However, during the hospital investigation, A denied the facts, saying, "I don't remember because I was drunk." When presented with the recording as evidence, A changed the story, saying, "It was because we were close."

During the investigation, B claimed that "A touched my chest and kissed me in 2016," but the hospital judged there was no evidence. The hospital considered A's behavior as 'minor misconduct with gross negligence' and only imposed a one-month suspension.

Moreover, it was revealed that this university hospital gave a mild disciplinary warning to a doctor caught soliciting prostitution at an officetel in 2020, and an employee who sexually harassed a nursing assistant was also only suspended for one month.
