Wildfire in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do... "Extinguished in about 50 minutes"

At around 1:54 PM on the 16th, a wildfire broke out in Sindong-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon, but it was extinguished within about 50 minutes.

Forest authorities deployed one helicopter, 12 pieces of equipment, and 82 firefighters to extinguish the main fire by around 2:48 PM that day. They are currently putting out remaining embers.

The forest authorities plan to investigate the cause of the fire and the damage area once the fire is completely extinguished. An official stated, "We will focus all efforts on extinguishing remaining embers and monitoring for flare-ups to prevent re-ignition," and added, "Please refrain from handling fire near forested areas."
