Gwangju Dong-gu Hosts 'Book of the Year Declaration Ceremony'

Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, recently announced the launch of the reading movement by holding the '2023 Book of the Year' proclamation ceremony, the city announced on the 16th.

The event was attended by about 300 people including the book selection committee, authors, and residents, and proceeded in the order of ▲report on the selection process of the Book of the Year ▲proclamation of the selected books ▲delivery ceremony of the first reading books together ▲‘Book Talk with Sentences’ from the Book of the Year.


For the adult category, the selected books were ▲With the Heart of a Ghost (Im Seon-woo / Minumsa) ▲Such an Ordinary Future (Kim Yeon-su / Munhakdongne) ▲The Earth is Fine, We Are the Problem (Gwak Jae-sik / Across), and for the youth category, the selected books were ▲I Am a Pattern (Kim Hae-won / Najeunsan) ▲Hulhul (Moon Kyung-min / Munhakdongne) ▲The Closet That Saves the Earth (Park Jin-young & Shin Hana / Changbi).


For children’s books, the selected titles were ▲The Best Chicken Show in the World (Lee Hee-jung / Biryoungso) ▲Spring Dream (To Jo Cheon-ho of Gwangju) (Ko Jeong-soon & Kwon Jeong-saeng / Gilbut Children), and for picture books for toddlers, the selected books were ▲Sorry (Kim Byung-ha / Hanullim Children) ▲Who Would Have Thought a Rope Would Come Down from the Sky (Choi Min-ji / Moraeal).


Dong-gu plans to operate various reading culture programs such as reading culture classes to spread the culture of reading.
