This competition was part of Lotte World Tower's spring event 'Lotta and Spring,' and this year marked the first busking audition held since the endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases) began.
Applications were accepted until the 2nd, with a total of 560 teams applying, resulting in a competition ratio of 56 to 1. Ten teams who passed the first round of judging competed from 2 p.m. on the 15th. Visitors to Lotte World Tower stopped to enjoy the music and performances. Comedian Jo Woo-yong hosted the event, adding a fun atmosphere with quiz events and recreational activities.
The top three teams were selected based on singing ability, musicality, originality, popularity, and composition. 'Winsome,' who performed a cover of Queen's 'Don’t Stop Me Now,' took first place. 'Narin,' who sang Sia's 'Unstoppable,' came in second, and Mr. Jo Han-gyeol, who sang Eagles' 'Desperado,' was selected for third place.
The first-place winner received a prize of 10 million KRW, while the second and third places were awarded 5 million KRW and 3 million KRW respectively. The top three teams will also have the opportunity to perform on the last day of Lotta and Spring on the 16th, as well as at the 'Lotta Busking' performances held every Saturday on the lawn plaza starting from the 29th.
'Winsome,' the winning band, said, "We are honored and happy to be the first winners of the Lotta Busking Audition," adding, "We plan to use the prize money to prepare good albums and performances in the future."
Lee Jae-won, Marketing Team Manager at Lotte Property & Development, said, "We thank the many customers and musicians who showed interest in the Lotta Busking Audition," and added, "We will strive to make Lotte World Tower a beloved busking spot for musicians and a cultural space in the city."
Meanwhile, Lotte World Tower is continuing the Lotta and Spring event until today. Programs for spring visitors include the 'Lotta Flea Market' with various food and entertainment options, a stamp rally event visiting Bellygom photo zones located throughout Lotte World Tower and Mall, and more.
