Scheduled to be held at Gwangju Base from the 17th to the 28th
The air forces of South Korea and the United States announced on the 16th that they will conduct a large-scale combined wing joint training exercise at Gwangju Air Base from the 17th to the 28th.
More than 110 combined air power units and approximately 1,400 personnel from both countries will participate in this exercise. South Korea will deploy about 60 aircraft, including F-35A, KF-16 fighters, FA-50 light attack aircraft, and KC-330 multipurpose aerial refueling transport aircraft. The United States will participate with about 40 aircraft, including Air Force F-16 fighters, A-10 attack aircraft, and KC-135 aerial refueling tankers.
The combined air forces of South Korea and the United States plan to conduct various joint air exercises such as attack wing operations, defensive support, emergency air interdiction, and close air support.
Colonel Lee Beom-gi, Chief of Staff of the Air Operations Command, stated, "The South Korean and U.S. air forces have established a solid combined defense posture through continuous and repetitive joint training," adding, "Through this exercise, we will reaffirm the strong ROK-U.S. alliance and further enhance our combined operational capabilities."
