According to the industry on the 16th, Dr.G of Gowoonsesang Cosmetic has been conducting a ‘Used Cosmetic Bottle Collection Campaign’ since early this year in collaboration with global recycling innovation company TerraCycle. The campaign was planned with Dr.G’s commitment to creating not only healthy skin but also a healthy planet by cleaning and submitting used cosmetic bottles that can be recycled but are often discarded, turning them into new resources. It is an annual campaign that anyone can easily participate in, not a one-time event.

Gowoonsesang Cosmetic is also introducing various other eco-friendly campaigns. They have replaced existing cosmetic containers and packaging materials with environmentally friendly materials and redesigned them for easier recycling. Through efforts such as using low-carbon tubes that reduce carbon emissions, they raised the proportion of products that can be separated and disposed of based on the main product to 80% as of last September.

LG Household & Health Care applies eco-friendly cosmetic containers made from 100% ‘waste plastic pyrolysis oil’ as raw material to their products. While chemically recycled PET (CR-PET), partially recycled from used and discarded PET bottles, is currently used for water bottle containers, LG Household & Health Care is the first to sell cosmetics in containers made entirely from waste plastic pyrolysis oil. The first containers made from pyrolysis oil plastic are simultaneously applied to two products from LG Household & Health Care’s Beyond line: ‘Angel Aqua Moisture Soothing Cream’ and ‘Angel Aqua Moisture Barrier Cream.’

Amorepacific signed a business agreement last year with Hyundai Construction to use recycled plastic cosmetic bottle materials. Through this agreement, they manufacture construction terrazzo tiles by mixing crushed plastic cosmetic bottles with ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) and apply them to apartment construction sites. The upcycled terrazzo tiles, which have excellent strength and durability, can be actively used for landscaping facilities due to their ability to produce various colors and designs.
