Gyeonggi-do Offers Up to 3 Million KRW Subsidy for Electric Two-Wheelers... 3,625 Units Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

Gyeonggi Province will invest 5.7 billion KRW this year to provide purchase subsidies for 3,625 electric two-wheelers.

The purchase subsidies for electric two-wheelers will be provided differentially according to size, type, and performance, with maximum amounts of ▲140 million KRW for mini vehicles ▲230 million KRW for small vehicles ▲270 million KRW for medium vehicles ▲300 million KRW for large vehicles.

If an existing internal combustion engine two-wheeler is replaced with an electric two-wheeler, an additional 200,000 KRW will be supported within the subsidy ceiling according to size, type, and performance.

Also, when small business owners and vulnerable groups (persons with disabilities, low-income households) purchase, an additional 10% of the national government subsidy amount for the vehicle will be provided regardless of the subsidy ceiling.

Residents wishing to purchase electric two-wheelers can visit nearby electric two-wheeler manufacturers or importers for consultation, then submit a purchase support application and contract for subsidy support. The manufacturer or importer will handle the related procedures, including submitting documents to the relevant city or county office.

However, purchasers of electric two-wheelers who receive subsidies must comply with a mandatory operation period of up to five years. If the vehicle is deregistered or scrapped before fulfilling the mandatory operation period, the subsidy will be reclaimed according to the operation period.

Detailed information on eligible vehicle models, subsidy amounts, and application methods for electric two-wheeler purchases can be found on the websites of the respective city or county offices or the zero-emission vehicle integrated website announcement.

Jung Han-gyu, Director of the Advanced Mobility Industry Division of the province, stated, "We expect that the expansion of electric two-wheeler distribution will not only contribute to improving air quality but also create industrial and economic effects due to the revitalization of future industries such as semiconductors."
