Complete Overhaul After 12 Years
Targeting Opening in 2026
In the era of digital platform government, a 'Digital Address Information Platform' will be established to introduce a three-dimensional address system for enhancing public convenience and to foster industries based on address information.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 16th that it has selected the first-phase contractor for the 'Digital Address Information Platform Construction' project and will hold a kickoff meeting tomorrow at the Central Building of the Government Sejong Complex.
In this first phase, address tasks that have been manually handled by local government road name address officers will be computerized to build an intelligent work environment.
Additionally, outdated and underperforming local government computer equipment related to addresses, which frequently experiences malfunctions, will be rebuilt on a cloud-based system to establish high-performance infrastructure for managing and analyzing various address information and expanding public services.
In future phases 2 and 3, the project will progressively implement the annual target tasks confirmed during the 2022 Information Strategy Plan (ISP), including ▲innovation of address management tasks using the latest information technology (IT) ▲restructuring of address information provision and utilization systems ▲improvement of field administrative systems ▲integration and transfer of local government data.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to operate a 'Digital Address Information Platform Construction Task Force (TF)' involving private companies and local governments, considering the unique characteristics of address information that broadly affect public life and private sector use, to continuously discuss policy directions and detailed construction plans.
Choi Hoon, Director of the Local Autonomy Balanced Development Office, stated, “Once the address platform is established, local governments will be able to handle address tasks more efficiently, and companies will be able to easily utilize address information in a wider range of fields.” He added, “We will continue to promote policies so that address information becomes a key resource for improving public convenience and revitalizing related industries.”
