LG Uplus Launches 18 FAST Channels on the 16th
Watch on LG Smart TVs Regardless of Carrier
No Subscription or Reception Fees... Expanded General Programming and Cable Content

LGU+, FAST Launch "Watch 18 Free Channels" Using FAST service through LG Smart TV

A service that allows viewing media content on LG Electronics smart TVs regardless of the subscribed carrier has been launched. There are no subscription or reception fees.

LG Uplus announced on the 16th the launch of the ‘FAST Channel’ with this content. FAST stands for ‘Free Ad-supported Streaming TV.’ It is a service that allows users to watch desired video content freely while viewing ads on smart TVs equipped with an open OS.

On LG smart TVs running LG webOS, a total of 18 FAST channels are available. These include △ 5 live channels △ channels that curate U+ original content and differentiated content (Idleulnara, U+Home Training, U+Stage, The Travel, The Enter, The Story) △ popular content such as WWE/Billiards. Going forward, LG Uplus plans to expand various forms of partnerships to enable viewing of differentiated FAST channels in diverse viewing environments beyond smart TVs.

So far, LG Uplus has created a dedicated content business organization (Studio X+U) as part of the ‘4 Major Platforms (Lifestyle, Play, Kids, Web3)’ project and has been focusing on producing original content. This is in consideration of the increasing number of domestic smart TV users. In particular, efforts have been made to build a differentiated content lineup to provide live channels and LG Uplus original content, which have not been offered by existing domestic FAST channels. In the future, they plan to offer abundant viewing options by adding popular content from general programming and cable channels.

LG Uplus expects to knock on the door of the global media content market beyond the domestic market through FAST channel collaboration with LG Electronics. They also plan to apply a sophisticated and personalized advertising model to create a viewing environment where content can be enjoyed without inconvenience. Lee Geon-young, Head of LG Uplus Home Media Tribe, said, “As OTT services have become widespread, we have been thinking a lot about providing an environment where content can be viewed more conveniently,” adding, “Through FAST channels, we are starting a new challenge and will develop beyond the existing limits of telecommunications and paid broadcasting toward the direction that customers truly want.”
