DRAM Exchange Announces Statistics on the 13th
After Samsung Electronics announced a reduction in memory semiconductor production, both DRAM and NAND spot prices have turned upward. The spot price of general-purpose DRAM, which rose for the first time in over a year, has maintained its increase for three consecutive days. NAND prices have also stopped declining following Samsung Electronics' announcement of memory semiconductor production cuts.
On the 13th, market research firm DRAMeXchange reported that the price of the 'Double Data Rate (DDR4) 16-gigabit (Gb) 2666' DRAM product was $3.235. This price is the average spot price of the product compiled until 11 a.m. (Taiwan time) on that day. The DDR4 16Gb 2666 product's price rose by 0.78% on the 11th compared to the previous day and has since maintained that price without falling. This is the first time the spot price of this product has increased since March 7 of last year ($7.873), marking a rise after 1 year and 1 month.
However, the spot price of the relatively smaller capacity 'DDR4 8Gb 2666' DRAM product declined. The spot price of this product on the morning of the 13th was $1.633, down 0.06% from the previous day. On the 12th, the spot price also fell by 0.06% compared to the previous day.
NAND spot prices are also showing an upward trend. The price of the '3D Triple-Level Cell (TLC) 512Gb' product was $4.642 as of the morning of the 13th, up 0.37% from the previous day. This product's price has been rising since Samsung Electronics' production cut announcement. On the 7th, the day of Samsung's announcement, the price rose to $4.608, then increased to $4.625 on the 10th. Although the price dipped back to $4.608 on the 11th, it showed an upward trend again with $4.625 on the 12th and $4.642 on the 13th.
Spot prices are transactions conducted mainly with end-users through distributors. While the industry primarily monitors contract prices between companies (fixed transaction prices), the spot price trend is considered a leading indicator that reflects market conditions as it is eventually incorporated into fixed transaction prices.
