'Love Sharing Practice Donation' of 5 Million Won Distributed to Ipam-myeon, Yeongyang-gun

Ipam-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has selected a vulnerable household residing in Byeongok-ri through the ‘2023 First Half Love Sharing Practice Donation Distribution Application’ and will provide support of 5 million KRW.

The ‘Love Sharing Practice’ project is funded by donations amounting to 10% of the annual salaries of political officials at the ministerial level and above. The funds are used to provide benefits such as livelihood and housing support to those in welfare blind spots or those in difficult situations who require additional assistance through connections with private resources.

The Korea National Council on Social Welfare selected about 200 households nationwide based on recommendations from administrative welfare centers in eup, myeon, and dong districts, as well as social welfare councils in cities, counties, and districts.

In the case of Mr. Kim (male, 37 years old), residing in Byeongok-ri, Ipam-myeon, he lives with his father who suffers from severe alcohol addiction. Mr. Kim is unemployed and is a reclusive youth suspected of social phobia, depression, and mental illness. Due to accumulated household burdens, his living environment was poor. Through the Love Sharing Practice screening, he was able to receive 5 million KRW for housing environment improvement.

Ipam-myeon plans to link the selected beneficiary with welfare projects for vulnerable groups through cooperation with Yeongyang Chili Distribution Corporation and the Ipam-myeon Saemaeul Leaders’ Association (Happy Home Making Project), and will ensure continuous case management.

Shin Jaesung, head of Ipam-myeon, said, “At a time when new vulnerable groups (such as reclusive youth) facing difficulties due to recent social structural changes are rapidly increasing, we will carefully ensure that the donors’ intentions are well conveyed to the beneficiary households. We will continue to actively identify marginalized neighbors in the community and strive to deliver warm support to those in welfare blind spots.”
