A total of 10 local governments were designated as special disaster areas this time: ▲Seo-gu, Daejeon ▲Okcheon-gun, Chungbuk ▲Hongseong-gun, Geumsan-gun, Dangjin-si, Boryeong-si, Buyeo-gun, Chungnam ▲Hampyeong-gun, Suncheon-si, Jeonnam ▲Yeongju-si, Gyeongbuk. These areas suffered damage to more than 100 hectares (ha) of forest or private facilities such as houses and agricultural and livestock facilities due to wildfires that occurred from the 2nd to the 4th.

The Ministry of Land plans to reduce the economic burden on citizens by waiving cadastral survey fees necessary for residents affected by wildfires to restore disasters such as new construction or reconstruction of houses. To receive the waiver benefit, a damage confirmation certificate detailing the damage caused by the large wildfire must be submitted to the mayor, county governor, district head, or town/myeon head of the location. Benefits can be received after the damage is confirmed.

For residential houses, warehouses, agricultural, livestock, and commercial facilities, the full fee will be waived, and for other cases where cadastral surveys are conducted for damage recovery, 50% of the fee can be waived.

The government previously waived cadastral survey fees to support damage recovery for ▲the 2017 earthquake damage area in Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk ▲the 2019 typhoon (Mitak) damage area ▲the 2020 COVID-19 special disaster areas (Daegu, Gyeongsan, Cheongdo, Bonghwa) ▲and the 2022 heavy rain damage, providing a total benefit of 5.51 billion KRW.

Residents who wish to apply for cadastral surveys can visit the city, county, or district office where the land is located, or apply through the website (Cadastral Survey Direct Processing Center) or by phone (Direct Processing Call Center).

Park Geon-su, Director of the Land Information Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Land, said, "Through the waiver of cadastral survey fees, we will support the swift recovery and restoration so that residents affected by the large-scale wildfires that occurred simultaneously nationwide can quickly return to their daily lives."
