The Korean Cultural Center New York announced on the 11th that it will hold the 'Scene - Geomungo Universe' concert featuring geomungo soloist Hwang Jin-ah in collaboration with Lincoln Center on the 19th (local time).
Hwang Jin-ah is an artist who has developed a new concept of music by crossing genres using not only traditional playing techniques but also new unconventional methods and electronic music technology. The Cultural Center explained that this performance will showcase the infinite expandability and charm that the traditional Korean instrument geomungo can offer.
The concert will also feature tracks from Hwang Jin-ah’s album, including ‘Sai’ created from questions about existence, ‘Botongsaram’ which adds Hwang Jin-ah’s unique color and sensibility to the long-performed Pungnyu, and ‘Geto,’ which expresses the hope to exist as a shining individual without being divided into minority or majority.
Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korea-US alliance, this concert co-hosted with Lincoln Center will take place on the 19th at 7:30 PM at the David Rubenstein Atrium of Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Attendance is free and admission will be closed on a first-come, first-served basis.
