Gyeonggi Province is promoting a plan to provide up to 1.5 million KRW per household when emergency housing support recipients due to Jeonse damage move to public rental housing.
The province announced on the 11th that it applied to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 31st of last month to discuss the establishment of a social security system for relocation expenses support for emergency support housing residents.
The province expects the results of the establishment discussions to come out around June and has begun preparations to implement the plan immediately.
The partial amendment ordinance of the "Gyeonggi Province Housing Welfare Fund Operation Ordinance," which contains the legal basis for relocation expense support, was also promulgated on the same day.
The relocation expense support target for emergency support housing residents includes residents of the province who are designated as emergency housing support recipients due to Jeonse damage and who relocate to emergency support housing within the province.
If there is no place to stay immediately due to eviction orders or unavoidable relocation caused by Jeonse damage, a Jeonse damage confirmation certificate is obtained from HUG (Jeonse Damage Support Center), and the person is selected as an emergency housing support recipient.
The province plans to utilize rental housing from Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Corporation (GH) that can be immediately moved into as emergency support housing, as well as Jeonse rental housing in areas without GH rental housing to support living in the original living area.
The province will screen eligibility and select recipients, providing up to 1.5 million KRW per household (considering moving expenses) as actual cost support.
Applications will be accepted at the Jeonse Damage Support Center within the Gyeonggi Province Housing Welfare Center, and the specific schedule will be decided once the social security system establishment discussions are completed.
The Framework Act on Social Security stipulates that local governments must consult with the Ministry of Health and Welfare when establishing or changing social security systems regarding the validity of the establishment or change, its relationship with existing systems, its impact on the social security delivery system, and operational plans.
To support Jeonse damage victims, the province temporarily opened the "Gyeonggi Province Jeonse Damage Support Center" within the Gyeonggi Province Housing Welfare Center on the 31st of last month, providing comprehensive support from damage reception to real estate legal advice, emergency financial support, and housing support.
Consultations are conducted by phone (070-4820-6903~4) from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. by prior reservation.
Jung Jong-guk, Director of the Housing Policy Division of the province, explained, "Since it is urgent to prepare multifaceted support measures for Jeonse damage in the province, we have decided to promote the 'relocation expense support' project to actively help the economic difficulties of Jeonse damage victims."
