Professor Kim Yuntae of the Department of Ocean Engineering at Pukyong National University was selected as a recipient of the government award on 'Civil Engineering Day 2023' and received a Prime Minister's Commendation.
Professor Kim was commended for his contributions to the establishment and advancement of disaster safety systems at the 2023 Civil Engineering Day ceremony, held recently at the Seoul Construction Hall and hosted by the Korean Society of Civil Engineers.
Professor Kim has conducted research in the fields of soft ground and disaster safety, publishing 58 SCI (Science Citation Index) level papers, 93 papers in registered journals, and registering 13 patents, thereby gaining recognition for his research achievements.
In particular, he has contributed to the establishment and advancement of disaster safety systems through interdisciplinary research aimed at reducing human and property damage caused by natural disasters such as landslides occurring during the summer rainy season, utilizing disaster prevention science and technology.
