Spectacular 300,000-Pyeong Chamkkot Flower Colony
Abundant Attractions and Activities
Dalseong Cultural Foundation (Chairman Choi Jae-hoon) will hold the “27th Biseulsan Chamkkot Cultural Festival” on the 15th and 16th at the Biseulsan Natural Recreation Forest area.
After the festival was last held in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will reunite with local residents and visitors again after four years. Every April, many tourists visit Biseulsan to enjoy the largest chamkkot (Rhododendron) colony in the country, spanning 300,000 pyeong.
Dalseong-gun holds the Biseulsan Chamkkot Cultural Festival, which has established itself as Daegu’s representative festival, during this period to provide visitors with various sights and enjoyable activities.
This year’s Biseulsan Chamkkot Cultural Festival, selected as an excellent local festival by Daegu City, will offer a richer variety of sights and activities starting with the Sansinje ritual on the first day, the 15th, followed by various performances and experiential events. This year’s festival has a special difference from previous chamkkot festivals.
While visitors previously had limited attractions and activities beyond performances, this year the festival plans to operate various experiences and photo zones so that visitors can freely enjoy the festival and cherish the joyful memories they make there for a long time.
The “Opening Celebration Performance” starting at 1:30 PM on the first day, the 15th, will feature singer Lee Solomon, a Daegu native who appeared on “Tomorrow’s National Singer” and “The Nation Sings,” delivering a captivating stage, and singer Park Mi-kyung, known for numerous hit songs such as “Eve’s Warning” and “A Reason That Doesn’t Seem Like a Reason,” who will enliven the festival atmosphere.
On the following day, the 16th, starting at 10 AM, the “Chamkkot Living Culture and Arts Festival” will be held with participation from local living culture and arts clubs. From 1:30 PM, the “Chamkkot Fringe Festival” will present a variety of genres in one place, including non-verbal performances and a congratulatory performance by Miss Trot contestant Ji-won Lee, offering a special program different from previous years.
Additionally, there will be experience zones where visitors can create precious memories, such as “Chamkkot Hwajeon” (flower pancakes) and the “Life Four-Cut Booth,” unique to the Chamkkot Cultural Festival, along with various promotional zones operated by local institutions and social organizations.
Park Byung-gu, CEO of Dalseong Cultural Foundation, said, “As the Biseulsan Chamkkot Cultural Festival is held again after four years, we plan to fill the festival with various sights and activities that allow local residents and visitors to unite, so we ask for your great interest.”
The Biseulsan Chamkkot Cultural Festival is free of charge with no separate admission fee. Traffic congestion is expected during the two days of the festival, and a shuttle bus will operate from the temporary parking lot to the Biseulsan Natural Recreation Forest parking lot.
