Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, visited four cities consecutively over two days from the 6th to the 7th: Goesan in Chungbuk, Sangju in Gyeongbuk, and Gangneung and Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province, to discuss ways to revitalize exchanges between the cities.


On the morning of the 7th, Mayor Kim visited Gangneung City Hall in Gangwon Province and discussed with Mayor Kim Hong-gyu plans for joint development such as ▲promoting youth cultural exchanges ▲expanding sales channels for agricultural specialties.


Following this, Mayor Kim toured Ojukheon, a representative cultural tourism resource of Gangneung City, and the immersive media art exhibition hall, Arte Museum.


In the afternoon, he visited Pyeongchang County Office and signed a ‘Sister City Partnership Agreement’ to jointly promote exchange activation and mutual development.

The agreement included ▲exchange and cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, and administration ▲mutual youth cultural exchanges.


Additionally, Mayor Kim participated in mutual donations to spread the donation culture of the ‘Hometown Love Donation System’ and visited the Lee Hyo-seok Literature Museum and Hyoseok Dalbit Hill.


On the first day of the sister city visits, he consecutively visited Goesan County in Chungbuk and Sangju City in Gyeongbuk to strengthen friendship between sister cities.


The district planned this tour to promote exchange activation between sister cities and to benchmark each city’s cultural tourism resources and excellent policies.


Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “It was a very meaningful time sharing various opinions and ideas for mutual development,” and added, “Going forward, Gangseo-gu and its sister cities will continue to cooperate so that they can mutually develop by filling in the necessary parts of each city, such as exchanging cultural tourism resources and expanding sales channels for agricultural specialties.”


During this tour, the district has sister and friendly city partnerships with 11 cities including Pyeongchang County, with which the sister city partnership agreement was signed, as well as Sangju City, Gangneung City, Jeongeup City, Yeosu City, Suncheon City, Goesan County, Imsil County, Wanju County, Taean County, and Haman County. Every year, they hold direct agricultural product markets to support sales channels for agricultural specialties and provide relief supplies in case of natural disasters, striving for mutual development.
