How about 'Yubudeong' for this picnic? ... Samjin Fish Cake launches new menu items

Samjin Eomuk, a fish cake brand celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, has launched four new products called ‘Yubudeng’ to welcome spring.


Since the end of March, the indoor and public transportation mask mandates have been lifted, leading to an increase in outdoor activities such as picnics and camping.


According to Samjin Eomuk, the food industry is focusing on these consumer needs and accelerating the launch of new picnic menu items that are convenient to eat outdoors.


Reflecting this industry trend, Samjin Eomuk has released four types of ‘Yubudeng,’ a simple yet hearty meal perfect for spring picnic lunchboxes.


‘Yubudeng’ is a compound word combining ‘yubu’ (fried tofu skin) and ‘eomuk’ (fish cake), reinterpreting the representative picnic lunch menu item yubu chobap (tofu skin sushi) into fish cake form.


It is filled with fish cake batter inside salty Japanese-style yubu and topped with various ingredients such as tuna and sweet potato, offering a colorful and flavorful experience suitable for spring.


The ‘Yubudeng’ lineup consists of four varieties: ‘Tuna Mayo Yubudeng,’ ‘Corn Egg Butter Yubudeng,’ ‘Guma Guma Yubudeng,’ and ‘Hot Chili Yubudeng.’ These new products are available at Samjin Eomuk’s nationwide directly operated stores.

To celebrate the launch of this new product, Samjin Eomuk will distribute double discount coupons to subscribers of the ‘Touching’ app until the 30th. With the double discount coupon, set products can be purchased at approximately 24% off. This event may end early depending on the situation at each directly operated store.


Kim Taesung, Head of CX Division at Samjin Eomuk, said, “In consideration of consumers planning spring outings during the picnic season, we have launched new products that can be easily enjoyed during outdoor activities. We hope many people will enjoy their first spring outing after the endemic more abundantly with these new products.”


Samjin Eomuk is also scheduled to release a new flavor of its signature fish cake croquette, ‘Corn Egg Butter Croquette,’ on the 10th. This product will also be available at nationwide directly operated stores.


Samjin Eomuk is making strides toward the ‘globalization of eomuk’ by ranking in the top 10 popular Korean food products in the U.S. based on the online sales platform ‘Amazon’ rankings.


Additionally, in March, it was selected as the number one brand in the processed seafood category for three consecutive years in the 25th Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI) survey.
