Yongin City Expands Support for Victims of Stalking and Dating Violence This Year

Yongin City is holding a meeting with officials from related organizations to protect and support victims of stalking and dating violence.

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will expand support for victims of stalking and dating violence this year.

Yongin City announced on the 7th that it will continue the 'Gender Violence Victim Support and Prevention RE:WITH YOU' project this year, following last year, to establish a social safety net to protect and support victims of stalking and dating violence, increasing the project budget by 20 million KRW.

The city will first provide short-term accommodation for up to five days for victims of stalking, dating violence, sexual and domestic violence. Additionally, to enhance understanding and expertise regarding stalking and dating violence, educational programs will be operated for workers at related facilities.

Along with this, 'Safety Crime Prevention Kits' such as smart door opening sensors, window locks, and mobile phone alarms will also be provided.

This year, the city will also carry out projects supporting indoor and outdoor emergency dispatch CCTV (closed-circuit television) for one year for crime victims in blind spots, as well as outreach counseling aimed at improving the awareness and behavior of perpetrators with a high risk of gender violence recurrence.

A city official stated, "This year, as support that can directly reduce victims' crime anxiety has become possible compared to last year, we will systematize the project in a way that maximally protects the daily lives of victims."

Meanwhile, if stalking, dating violence, sexual and domestic violence, or cyber sexual violence occurs or counseling is needed, victims can report by calling the Women's Emergency Hotline (1366).
