On the afternoon of the 6th, Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, signed a business agreement with Seoul National University Lifelong Education Institute at Yeongdeungpo District Office to promote lifelong education.


At the signing ceremony, attended by Mayor Choi Ho-kwon and Lee Chan, Director of Seoul National University Lifelong Education Institute, they pledged mutual cooperation to revitalize lifelong education.

Through this agreement, the district expects to provide residents with high-quality lifelong education opportunities such as relay lectures by Seoul National University professors, thereby enhancing residents' capabilities and advancing the creation of a lifelong learning city.


Mayor Choi Ho-kwon stated, “It is very meaningful to establish a lifelong education foundation with a prestigious top university. Through this agreement, we will accelerate the realization of a lifelong learning city with excellent faculty and quality lectures from Seoul National University.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, embarked on a visit to sister cities on the 6th to activate exchanges between sister cities and benchmark cultural tourism resources and innovative policies of each city.


On the morning of the same day, Mayor Kim visited Goesan County Office to discuss ways to support sales channels for agricultural specialty products and activate mutual exchanges.


In particular, he added significance by participating in mutual donations to spread the culture of the ‘Hometown Love Donation System.’

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I am pleased to participate in the ‘Hometown Love Donation System’ for the mutual development with Goesan County. I will cooperate to widely promote the system, which helps revitalize hometowns and allows donors to receive local specialties as gifts.”


In the afternoon, he headed to Sangju, Gyeongbuk Province. Mayor Kim strengthened the friendship between the two cities and attended the ‘Sangju Agricultural Machinery Expo,’ held until the 7th, where he viewed various cutting-edge agricultural machines integrated with information and communication technology (ICT) and visited the National Nakdong River Biological Resources Center to experience major cultural tourist sites. Mayor Kim said, “It was a very meaningful time to discuss ways to activate mutual exchanges and gain inspiration for policies that can be applied to district administration through sister city exchanges. We will continue to seek ways for each city to develop through ongoing exchanges and communication.”


This is Mayor Kim’s second visit for sister city benchmarking. In February, he visited sister cities in Jeolla Province, including Wanju, Imsil, Jeongeup in Jeonbuk, and Yeosu and Suncheon in Jeonnam, to discuss ways to activate exchanges between cities.

On the 4th, Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro District, held a ‘Cherry Blossom Lunchbox Communication Meeting’ with about 20 employees at the Guro Learning Support Center in Guro Neighborhood Park.


This meeting was arranged to communicate with employees during lunch time in line with the cherry blossom blooming season, aiming to improve work efficiency and organizational culture.


The lunch menu attracted attention as sandwiches and coffee were provided, made and sold by the senior job market-type business units ‘Damadream’ and ‘Cafe Gaebong’ of the local senior job support organization ‘Guro Senior Club.’

An employee who attended the meeting said, “It was especially meaningful that the sandwiches and coffee were made directly by seniors,” and added, “It would be great to have opportunities to introduce products made by the Senior Club to residents.”


Mayor Moon and the employees shared a meal while exchanging the district administration philosophy and operational directions in an open conversation.


After the meal, they spent a meaningful time walking along the walking trail around Guro Neighborhood Park.


Since taking office, Mayor Moon has emphasized communication with employees and aimed for a horizontal and flexible organizational culture. He holds monthly birthday celebration events for employees with birthdays and personally attends employees’ weddings to deliver congratulatory messages.

On the morning of the 6th, Park Kang-soo, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the donation ceremony for the ‘Resident Participation Filial Piety Meal’ sponsored by Sinchon Seonggyeol Church.


The event was held in a warm atmosphere at the 9th-floor policy meeting room of Mapo District Office, attended by Mayor Park Kang-soo, the chairman of Mapo Welfare Foundation, Pastor Park No-hoon and elders of Sinchon Seonggyeol Church, and about 10 others.

Jo Seong-myeong, Gangnam District Mayor, Conducts Public-Private-Police Traffic Safety Campaign in Front of Eonbuk Elementary School


Gangnam District (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) conducted a joint public-private-police campaign on the 6th in front of Eonbuk Elementary School to create a safe commuting environment for students. About 70 residents, including district office staff, Gangnam Police Station, Gangnam-Seocho Education Support Office, Cheongdam-dong Community Center, Eonbuk Elementary School faculty and student council, and Green Mothers’ Association, promoted compliance with traffic safety rules to prevent child traffic accidents at the school’s front and back gates within the school zone.

The district conducts weekly traffic safety campaigns from March to April at nine elementary schools designated as special management targets in child protection zones.


In March, campaigns were held at ▲Hakdong Elementary School on the 10th ▲Bongeun Elementary School on the 17th ▲Cheongdam Elementary School on the 23rd ▲Poi Elementary School on the 30th.


In April, campaigns will be held at ▲Eonbuk Elementary School on the 6th, followed by ▲Yeonghui Elementary School on the 12th ▲Apgujeong Elementary School on the 13th ▲Suseo Elementary School on the 19th ▲Singoo Elementary School on the 27th.


Mayor Jo Seong-myeong said, “We will closely cooperate with schools and police stations to create a safe commuting path for students,” adding, “We will also strive to smoothly promote pedestrian environment improvement projects within child protection zones.”

Gangdong District (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) awarded certificates of commendation and appreciation to 40 outstanding donors who participated in the Hope Stepping Stone Fund and the 2023 Warm Winter Campaign at the Gangdong District Office auditorium on the 5th.


At the ceremony, certificates of commendation were awarded to outstanding donors such as Seoul Asan Medical Center for the Hope Stepping Stone Fund, and Korea Phil Medical Foundation, Green Store, and Daseong Construction for the Warm Winter Campaign.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk District, is accelerating efforts to revitalize traditional markets. As part of this, on the 5th, she held a meeting with merchants of Suyu Traditional Market in the mayor’s office.


At the meeting, Mayor Lee inspected the production process of the self-branded meal kits ‘Dangdanghan Chef,’ launched in January by the Suyu Traditional Market Store Promotion Business Cooperative (Representative Choi Jin-ho). She provided opinions on quality, price, and delivery, and listened to difficulties.


Meanwhile, ‘Dangdanghan Chef’ is an abbreviation for ‘Same-day Production, Same-day Delivery.’ The menu includes chadolbagi mushroom malatang, shrimp gambas, bulgogi octopus hot pot, mala gopchang hot pot, and flower crab seafood soup.

Dongdaemun District (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a special lecture for all employees at the district office’s multipurpose auditorium on the 2nd floor on the afternoon of the 5th.


This lecture was the second session of the ‘Open Dongdaemun 2050’ series, planned and prepared directly by Mayor Lee Pil-hyung. The one-hour lecture featured humanities architect and Hongik University Professor Yoo Hyun-joon, who gave a special lecture on the theme ‘Future of Space’ from an architect’s perspective on viewing the world.

After the lecture, a lively Q&A session and a mini signing event were held with enthusiastic participation from employees. One employee who attended said, “I personally like Professor Yoo Hyun-joon very much, so it was great to hear his lecture in person.”


Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “I am very pleased to have invited Professor Yoo Hyun-joon to this meaningful event sharing the future vision of Dongdaemun District,” adding, “I hope this lecture was a meaningful time to envision the future of Dongdaemun together.”


The district has been planning and operating the ‘Open Dongdaemun 2050’ special lecture series since February to share and practice the core values of the 8th local government administration, including Cheongnyangni complex development, smart city, carbon-neutral city, and flower city creation, with all employees.
