The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is operating school convergence reading practice classes (clubs) to spread convergence reading education.
Convergence reading education is a reading education that combines traditional reading with digital-based reading activities such as media and artificial intelligence (AI), and it is one of the four strategic projects of reading and humanities education by the Ulsan Office of Education.
Recently, the Office of Education held a briefing session for 80 teachers from elementary, middle, high, and special schools at Dasan Hall regarding the convergence reading education practice class leader group.
The leader group consists of 80 members who are in charge of operating the convergence reading education practice classes selected on the 21st.
At the briefing, guidance on the operation of the practice classes, methods and cases of convergence reading education, and ways to utilize operating expenses were shared.
The role as leaders who breathe new life into existing reading education was emphasized, including linking reading with subject classes and leading convergence reading education activities within schools.
Going forward, the leader group plans to work on spreading convergence reading education through the application of convergence reading education practice classes in the field for one year.
A teacher who participated in the briefing said, “It was a meaningful time to contemplate methods of convergence in reading education and communicate with fellow teachers.”
An official from the city education office said, “We hope that convergence reading education will become the starting point of future-oriented reading education along with changes in the reading environment such as the spread of smart devices,” and added, “We will do our best to establish field-centered convergence reading education by carefully collecting school demands that arise during the operation process.”
