On the 5th, LX Hausys announced that it has begun supplying the domestic market by delivering 'Recycle furniture film' made from recycled PET bottles to a large-scale apartment complex by Doosan Construction.
The site where the Recycle furniture film will be introduced is the 3,048-unit complex 'Doosan We've the Zenith Ocean City' being developed by Doosan Construction in Nam-gu, Busan, scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. LX Hausys first introduced furniture film made from PET raw materials recycled from plastic PET bottles in 2018. Since then, the company has supplied products only to overseas markets, including furniture companies in Europe and North America, where recycled raw material products are actively used.
Starting with the supply contract with Doosan Construction, LX Hausys plans to accelerate its domestic market penetration of recycled products by confirming additional supply contracts with several major domestic construction companies in the first half of this year.
The products that LX Hausys will supply in the future are Recycle furniture films with a 'Dual Pearl' color design featuring a powdery pearl effect that produces a subtle luster in neutral colors. The 'Dual Pearl' products will be widely applied to the surfaces of built-in furniture such as closets and shoe cabinets inside 'Doosan We've the Zenith Ocean City.'
With this supply of 'Recycle furniture film,' LX Hausys is expected to recycle approximately 1.2 million plastic PET bottles (based on 500ml bottles), actively contributing to the national campaign to reduce single-use plastics.
An LX Hausys official stated, "As the global meaning of eco-friendliness is expanding from reducing harmful substances to resource circulation, the demand for 'Recycle furniture film' is expected to continue increasing in both domestic and international markets," adding, "We will continue to introduce sustainable products based on circularity and lead ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in the domestic interior industry."
