The 24-inch STS pipe rolling line installed at SeAH Steel's Suncheon plant, covering approximately 340,000㎡, applies a roll forming method that continuously arranges rollers to shape the material, making it the first and largest scale in Korea based on outer diameter.

Compared to the existing method, it enables forming, welding, heat treatment, and correction all at once, increasing annual production capacity by 10,000 tons, while also offering faster speed and superior quality.

With this, SeAH Steel has secured a total domestic and international production capacity of 113,000 tons through synergy with the Changwon plant producing medium and small diameter STS pipes (43,000 tons annually), the Suncheon plant producing large diameter pipes (40,000 tons), and Inoxtec (30,000 tons).

SeAH Steel has been recognized for its manufacturing technology of steel pipes for LNG transportation and has participated as a supplier in most LNG projects in the United States, starting with the first shale gas development LNG project in the U.S. Last year, it also supplied the world's largest single-scale STS project, the North Gas Field project in Qatar, through Samsung C&T.

A SeAH Steel official said, "Through investment and mass production of the 24-inch STS pipe rolling line, we will secure absolute competitive advantage in the LNG project market and leap forward as a leader in the era of energy transition."
