The lecture will be held at 3 PM on the day of the ceremony at Jungnang Mangwoo Space.
From April 8, the second day of the festival, visitors can freely participate in various events and experience booths. Activities include a stamp tour exploring the graves of famous figures, 3D puzzle assembly, balloon art, and traditional games. Seocho-gu Offers Three 1-Hour 20-Minute Urban Forest Walking Tours Amidst Blooming Spring Flowers
· ‘Flower Cloud Park Walk,’ a ‘Healing Time in Urban Nature’ program held every Friday from April 14 to May 12, total 5 sessions
· ‘Yangjae Stream Flower Breeze Tour,’ a ‘Time with History’ program held every Wednesday from April 12 to May 10, total 5 sessions
· ‘Warm Naegok Spring Tour,’ a ‘Nature Experience Focused’ program held every Wednesday and Friday from May 15 to May 31, total 5 sessions
Seocho-gu proposes walking tour courses to fully enjoy spring while experiencing local history, culture, and nature.
Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will operate the ‘2023 Seoripul Spring Flower Tour’ program with cultural interpreters from April 12 through next month.
The ‘Seoripul Spring Flower Tour’ has been running since 2015, allowing participants to walk with cultural interpreters through major landmarks and listen to hidden stories of history and culture by theme. So far, 117 sessions have been held with a total of 3,000 participants.
This year, unlike last year, the program is divided into first and second halves of the year according to seasonal characteristics. The first half features three courses themed around spring flowers. The walking tour courses are ▲ ‘Flower Cloud Park Walk’ centered on Seoripul Park ▲ ‘Yangjae Stream Flower Breeze Tour’ around Yangjae Citizen’s Forest ▲ ‘Warm Naegok Spring Tour’ at Cheonggyesan Waterside Park. Each course covers 1.4 km to 1.9 km and takes about 100 minutes to complete.
Notably, starting this year, participants will receive art tickets as souvenirs of their journey. Different designs of art tickets are given for each walking course, and collecting all three completes a beautiful landscape of Yangjae Stream.
Looking more closely at the walking courses, the ‘Flower Cloud Park Walk’ runs every Friday from April 14 to May 12. Starting at the Express Bus Terminal, the route passes through Nue Bridge, Seoripul Park, and Montmartre Park, where forest interpretation and cultural interpretation of the National Library of Korea are provided. It offers a time of reflection and nature amidst the high-rise apartments and building forests in the city.
The ‘Yangjae Stream Flower Breeze Tour’ covers Yangjae Citizen’s Forest, Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, and Yangjae Stream Neighborhood Park, running every Wednesday from April 12 to May 10. Along with forest interpretation, participants can appreciate the natural scenery of Yangjae Citizen’s Forest and Yangjae Stream and reflect on the historical significance of the Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall.
The final ‘Warm Naegok Spring Tour’ runs every Wednesday and Friday from May 15 to 31. It visits Seocho Flower Yard in Naegok-dong and Cheonggyesan Waterside Park. This course focuses on nature experiences with a forest interpreter, exploring various flora and fauna in the waterside park and Yeoui Stream.
Applications are accepted by phone reservation on a first-come, first-served basis for 15 participants per session and through the Seocho-gu website and Seoul Public Service Reservation site.
Looking ahead, the district plans to organize an autumn-themed walking tour course around September. This will also be guided by cultural interpreters who have completed the ‘Seocho Cultural Tourism Interpreter Professional Training Course’ conducted by the Seocho Cultural Foundation and forest interpreters certified by the Forest Interpreter Association.
In January, the district produced and distributed the ‘Seocho-gu Tourism Guide Map of Rest and Romance,’ which provides easy access to attractions and information on restaurants for both domestic and international tourists as well as residents. The map marks locations of tourist accommodations, attractions, shopping, restaurants, and transportation in clipart format.
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “I hope that through the ‘2023 Seoripul Spring Flower Tour,’ participants can discover the charm of Seocho-gu’s culture and nature with experts.”
