The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 3rd that 84 large corporations (parent companies) and 1,501 partner companies were selected in the first round of this year's 'Large and Small-Medium Enterprise Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project.'

Through the Large and Small-Medium Enterprise Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project, parent companies and partner companies plan to jointly establish safety and health management systems and improve safety and health standards. The government provides technical guidance and matches up to 50% of the required costs, up to a maximum of 250 million KRW. The participation period in the project is recognized as a safety and health voluntary practice period, exempting companies from safety and health inspections, and if outstanding, the period can be extended by one year.

The number of participating large corporations by region is as follows: 1 in Seoul including SK Telecom; 15 in Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan including Sungwoo Hitech Soju Factory; 8 in Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk including SeAH CM; 17 in Daegu and Gyeongbuk including Young Poong Seokpo Smelter; 20 in Incheon and Gyeonggi including Celltrion; 21 in Daejeon, Chungbuk, and Chungnam including Donghee Auto; and 2 in Gangwon including Halla Cement Co., Ltd.

A total of 324 large corporations and 2,917 partner companies applied. The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency selected companies considering the size and number of participating partner companies, main activities, and whether they belong to high-risk industries.

The second application period is until the 11th. The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to select about 300 large corporations and related partner companies this year.

Ryu Kyung-hee, Director of the Industrial Safety and Health Headquarters at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, stated, “For participating companies, the period will be exempt from industrial safety inspections to allow them to establish and implement self-regulatory preventive measures, and outstanding companies will receive additional points in the win-win growth index evaluation and preferential treatment during government awards.”
