Ruling Party: "Democratic Party's Purpose in Spreading Radiation Rumors is to Divide Public Opinion"

Kang Ming-guk Chief Spokesperson "Specializes in Spreading Rumors"
"There Were THAAD Rumors, but No Impact on Surroundings"

The People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "The clear purpose of the Democratic Party spreading 'radioactive rumors' is to cause 'national division.'"

Kang Min-guk, chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 2nd, "Even though the Presidential Office repeatedly clearly states that 'Fukushima seafood will never enter the country,' the reason the Democratic Party continuously spreads 'radioactive rumors' lies here."

Regarding the issue of Japan's Fukushima contaminated water discharge, it is known that some Democratic Party lawmakers are planning to visit Fukushima from the 6th to the 8th. In response, Chief Spokesperson Kang said, "As public interest drifts away from the Democratic Party's 'jukchangga' (death song) on the forced mobilization solution, they are now trying to engage in their specialty, 'rumor spreading,'" adding, "'Fear-mongering - holding opposition rallies - overseas visits by lawmakers' is the so-called 'rumor spreading' formula that the Democratic Party repeatedly follows."

Kang also said, "I feel a sense of d?j? vu in all these actions by the Democratic Party," pointing out, "It is the other rumor spread by the Democratic Party, the 'Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) rumor.'"

He continued, "When the government decided to deploy THAAD in Seongju County, Gyeongbuk Province, in July 2016, the so-called 'THAAD rumor' that 'the electromagnetic waves emitted from THAAD are harmful to people and crops' quickly spread," adding, "At that time, the Democratic Party held anti-THAAD rallies where they sang and danced to songs like 'I feel like my body is being fried under the electromagnetic waves.'"

Spokesperson Kang explained, "Unlike the rumors spread by the Democratic Party, THAAD did not have any environmental impact," and added, "However, the rumors spread by the Democratic Party have exerted influence for a long time. Despite North Korea's continuous military provocations, the normal operational deployment of the THAAD base faces baseless opposition."

He then warned, "I issue a warning to the Democratic Party," emphasizing, "The Democratic Party, which stirs public anxiety by spreading rumors, will ultimately tremble under the stern judgment of the people in next year's general election."
