Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon started April with "baseball diplomacy" by attending the opening game of the professional baseball season on the 1st.
Governor Kim posted on his social media, "Starting April with baseball diplomacy," stating, "On this bright first day of April, the 2023 professional baseball season has opened," and added, "I invited several people to the opening game between KT Wiz and LG Twins held at Suwon's 'KT Wiz Park.'"
He continued, "First, we invited multicultural families, people with disabilities, and elderly citizens over 70 years old from Gyeonggi Province," and introduced, "Also, as promised last October, we invited Philip Goldberg, the U.S. Ambassador to Korea, and Willard Burleson, Commander of the U.S. Eighth Army, who works hard for the Korea-U.S. alliance, to 'KT Wiz Park.'"
He went on, "Together with the two, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the baseball game and cheering," and added, "The Eighth Army Commander invited me and the Ambassador to Camp Humphreys in May."
Governor Kim further evaluated the day, saying, "It was a day that confirmed Gyeonggi Province and the United States are the best partners not only in economy but also in peace, security, and diplomacy."
