The grave of the late Park Won-soon, former mayor of Seoul, was relocated on the 1st from Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, to the Democratic Martyrs' Cemetery in Moran Park, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The relocation took place early in the morning, and from 3 p.m. that day, family members and supporters gathered to hold a memorial service. This was earlier than the originally scheduled relocation time of 3 p.m.
Park's grave is located behind the grave of Jeon Tae-il, a martyr, in the Democratic Martyrs' Cemetery at Moran Park. No tombstone or monument has been installed yet, but wreaths sent by supporters and memorial items featuring photos of the late mayor are placed there.
Park, who was accused of sexual harassment in 2020 and subsequently took his own life, was buried in his hometown of Jangma-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, on July 13 of the same year according to his will.
However, in September 2021, a man in his 20s vandalized Park's grave, which reportedly led the family to request the relocation.
