The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) is set to investigate Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, who raised suspicions of a targeted audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection.
According to the legal community on the 1st, the PCC Special Investigation Headquarters (led by Chief Prosecutor Lee Dae-hwan) plans to summon former Chairperson Jeon on the 4th as a complainant to verify the details of the accusation.
Last September, the Board of Audit and Inspection conducted a special audit on the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. It is known that about ten items, including allegations regarding Chairperson Jeon's attendance, were included in the audit scope.
In December of last year, after the audit, Chairperson Jeon filed complaints with the PCC against Choi Jae-hae, Chairperson of the Board of Audit and Inspection, Yoo Byung-ho, Secretary General of the Board, and a senior official A from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. A was identified as the person who reported suspicions about Chairperson Jeon to the Board of Audit and Inspection.
Regarding the reason for the complaint, Chairperson Jeon stated, "There is suspicion that (the informant) illegally obtained internal materials related to the Anti-Corruption Act report, which is confidential in the course of duty, to pressure the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to resign, and provided them to the Board of Audit and Inspection."
