The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has released the 'Youth Dietary Guide Program (Health-U)' on Food Safety Korea as of the 1st, which allows young people with irregular eating habits to easily identify their eating type and provides customized guides according to that type to promote healthy eating habits.
This program was developed to help young people practice a balanced diet in their daily lives, as the dietary habit evaluation index for the youth was found to be significantly lower compared to other age groups, with the highest rate of breakfast skipping.
The dietary habit evaluation index is a quantitative tool that assesses how well adults aged 19 and over comply with dietary guidelines, scoring a total of 14 items.
The Ministry explained that by entering basic information into the program, it automatically classifies the user into convenience, emotional, trendy, or healthy eating types, and provides customized guides for healthy eating according to the identified type.
The Ministry also stated that the recent rate of single-person households among youth is 35.9%, and more than half of these single-person youth households recognize irregular eating as a problem in their daily diet. They expect that this dietary program will help improve the eating habits of single-person youth households.
