A remarkable record of consecutive amateur victories in two tournaments has been set on the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Srixon (2nd division) Tour.

Amateur Jou Young, who will participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games, showcased incredible power by sweeping up 7 birdies without a single bogey in the final 2nd round of the 2nd Srixon Tour tournament (total prize money 80 million KRW) held on the 31st at Solago Country Club Sol Course (par 71, 7,208 yards) in Taean, Chungnam. After shooting 9 under par the previous day, Jou Young finished with a total score of 16 under par 126, winning by a 6-stroke margin. Last week, Jang Yubin, also heading to the Hangzhou Asian Games, claimed the title at the 1st Srixon Tour tournament.

Jou Young exclaimed, "I am deeply moved to be able to win as an amateur," adding, "Winning ahead of the Asian Games feels like I have received good energy." He continued with a bright smile, "My strength, the driver shot, was stable," and "The weather and course conditions were perfect, allowing me to play well." Jou Young emphasized, "I was also motivated by (Jang) Yubin’s victory in the previous tournament," and said firmly, "I will continue to work hard to accumulate more wins on the KPGA Srixon Tour."

Jou Young was a national team member from 2020 to 2022 and is currently part of the national reserve team. He won the 67th Korea Amateur Golf Championship sponsored by Heojeonggu and the 27th Songam Amateur Golf Championship in 2020. Last year, he ranked first in the final amateur selection for the Hangzhou Asian Games. Jou Young stressed, "This year is more important than ever as I am also participating in the Asian Games," and highlighted, "Winning the Asian Games gold medal is my biggest goal."

Ha Choong-hoon finished as runner-up with a score of 10 under par 132. Since amateurs cannot receive prize money, Ha Choong-hoon took home the winner’s prize of 16 million KRW. Jeon Jun-hyung and Kim Young-guk tied for third place with 8 under par 134. The 3rd KPGA Srixon Tour tournament will be held over two days starting April 10 at Gunsan Country Club in Gunsan, Jeonbuk.
