Early Voting for Changnyeong County Governor and Provincial Assembly By-elections Held Over Two Days

March 31 to April 1: 14 Locations in Changnyeong-gun

Early voting for the by-election of the Changnyeong County Governor and the Changnyeong County District 1 member of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council began on the 31st.

According to the Gyeongnam Election Commission, early voting before the main election on April 5 will be held from this day until April 1 at 97 early voting stations nationwide, including 14 locations within Changnyeong County.

General voters can cast their early votes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the early voting period.

Early voting for COVID-19 quarantined voters is only available on the second day of early voting, April 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Upon arrival at the early voting station, election officials will distinguish between local and non-local voters and guide them to the appropriate voting area.

Voters enter according to the guidance, present their ID for identity verification, and then sign or stamp on the identity verification device to receive the ballot and other materials.

Acceptable IDs include resident registration cards, youth IDs, passports, driver’s licenses, or other public institution-issued documents that display the date of birth and have a photo attached.

Only original mobile IDs are accepted; screenshots or saved images are not recognized.

Voters from by-election districts outside Changnyeong County who vote early at the early voting station must receive both the ballot and the return envelope and mark their ballot accordingly.

The marked ballot must be placed in the return envelope, sealed securely, and then deposited into the ballot box.

Voters residing within Changnyeong County who vote early at an early voting station within the county only need to receive the ballot, mark it, and place it directly into the ballot box.

COVID-19 quarantined voters must bring their ID along with a COVID-19 positive notification text message or similar proof.

Addresses and maps of early voting stations can be checked on the Central Election Commission website or the election statistics system.

A Gyeongnam Election Commission official stated, “Since April 5, the by-election day, is not a public holiday, voters who cannot vote on election day are encouraged to participate during the early voting period.”
