Defense Company LIG Nex1 and Air Force Academy Join Hands for 'Future Research Agreement'

"Establishing Future Air Force Weapon System Directions and Operational Concepts"

Cooperation in Drone Technology, Defense Policy Research, and Talent Development

Defense industry companies have partnered with the Korea Air Force Academy to conduct research on defense technology, including the operation of future weapon systems.


LIG Nex1 (CEO Kim Ji-chan) announced on the 31st that it has agreed to collaborate with the Korea Air Force Academy (Superintendent Lieutenant General Lee Sang-hak) on joint research in the field of defense technology for the operation of future advanced weapon systems and the exchange of human resources.


At the signing ceremony held at the Korea Air Force Academy, Superintendent Lee Sang-hak and Lee Geon-hyuk, Head of the PGM Business Division at LIG Nex1, attended and signed a memorandum of understanding regarding "presenting the development direction of Air Force weapon systems through joint research and establishing operational concepts for future advanced weapon systems."

The main areas of cooperation include ▲establishing the development direction of the defense sector and operational concepts for future weapon systems through joint research ▲enhancing mutual cooperation through human resource exchange.


Detailed cooperation items include ① research on defense policy for the operation of future advanced weapon systems ② research in defense technology fields such as manned/unmanned aircraft, drones, and guided weapons ③ other mutual joint defense research ④ education and support cooperation for nurturing future military talents ⑤ mutual exchange between professors of the Korea Air Force Academy and members of LIG Nex1 ⑥ joint execution of domestic academic activities.


At the signing ceremony, Lee Geon-hyuk, Head of the PGM Business Division at LIG Nex1, stated, “In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, LIG Nex1 will continuously cooperate with the Korea Air Force Academy to research and operate future advanced weapon systems.”


Superintendent Lee Sang-hak of the Korea Air Force Academy responded, “Cooperating with LIG Nex1 holds great significance for nurturing Air Force talents,” adding, “We will devote efforts to training excellent Air Force officers capable of taking responsibility for the defense of the Republic of Korea, including the future space sector.”
